Teaching

We are in a moment of reckoning and great social potential, which is inspiring new questions about racial and linguistic justice in education. I respond to these questions in my teaching through feminist, anti-oppressive pedagogy, engagement with public scholarship, and community-centered inquiry. I invite my adult students from intersecting social perspectives to co-construct learning so that all of us push our thinking and hold ourselves and each other accountable. I see our classroom as a model for broader community engagement and encourage students to develop critical skills and practical knowledge to address social injustices across contexts. I aim to support students’ lifelong learning as educators, scholars, and activist thinkers who can help envision healing and justice for our communities.

Sharing educational scholarship and insights from praxis are powerful ways that I connect with other practitioners. See my recent presentation, “From Support to Solidarity: Writing Tutors Advocate for Multilingual Writers,” at the NYS TESOL Conference in November 2020 (17:21-29:02):
